New Year, New Us!

Steve and I started out this wonderful 2009 by hiking Squaw Peak with his brother Tanner and his friend, Ben. We have committed ourselves to being healthier and more active than ever this year! For the whole month of January, we aren't eating ANY sugar! The only sugar we can have is fruit or anything that is sweetened with xylitol, honey, or agave. I'll tell you, after the holidays, it is quite a shock to completely give up sugar because your body is so use to ingesting it on a daily basis! But we feel so much better! We have also joined a Fit Club competition with a bunch of friends and family. It will last for three months (just started Sunday, January 11th) and will go to March 21st! We get points everyday for working out and eating healthy and drinking lots of water. We get one cheat day a week so I am thinking this will be very do-able! We all put in $10 and the first prize winner gets 50% of the money, the second prize winner gets 30% and the third prize winner gets 20%! I can't wait to win!

Also, something very bizarre happened to me on Saturday night! Do you see these incredibly adorable blue shoes below? I put them on to go to a wedding reception and felt something very pokey inside! I took my shoe off to find what it was and it was a SNAIL! That's right, you heard me a REAL LIFE SNAIL IN MY SHOE! I started screaming that a snail was in my shoe and Steve picked it up and basically had the same reaction! It was in its shell and completely stuck to the inside of my shoe! He had to pry it off with a Q-Tip! I then, scrubbed my shoe with lots of hydrogen peroxide to get rid of any snail guts! Yuck! Beware of shoes from Last Chance! You get what you pay for!!

  2. I wonder how far that snail has traveled. He chose an 'on the move' home.

  3. Way to go on the no sugar thing. I don't think I could do it. I guess I need a motivation group for that too. Our family is doing the daily family scripture reading challenge. That, I know we can do. The no sugar, naaaaa!!

  7. A SNAIL? What the??? I thought you were going to say a scorpian and that would have been way worse. So maybe a snail isn't that bad. By the way, those are the cutest shoes--snail and all.
