I jinxed myself

Parker did really good the first day and a half of potty training and then something went wrong...
He pee'd his pants twice yesterday, twice today and pooped his pants after lunch! What is going on?! Right before he did his duty in his underwear, I asked him if he had to go potty. He said no, walked over to our stair case, pee'd and poo'd and then told me he had to go potty (after the deed was done mind you!) Uuuggghh. Okay, I ate my words that potty training was a piece of cake! Any advice would be greatly appreciated, because this Mama is starting to get discouraged!
Good thing he is SO cute!

  1. What ever you do don't give up. If you do it only becomes harder the next time you try! With Westin for the first couple of days I stayed right by him and only asked him to TELL me when he had to go. I never asked him if he had to go. For some reason giving them the idea of being in control by being able to tell me he had to go worked.

Good Luck, its a lot of ups and downs!

  2. I kayden sit on the toilet every half hour and tell him to push out poop and pee we don't leave until at least a trickle or a drop comes out. We also leave kayden naked so if he poops on the floor he gets to clean it up. That has happened once and never again :) he has the poop down but he is still taking a little bit longer on the pee. Good luck I'm rooting for you!!

  3. PS we give a treat for every good deed so if poops and pee he gets two.

  4. Do they still make pull ups? My youngest is 18 so I have no idea anymore! :-) I would suggest them for a bit, until he has less accidents. You could have him pick which to wear, undies or pull up. I used pull ups whenever going out and at bed time. When dry I would praise like crazy. Give it time, when he is ready he will be potty trained.

  5. This happened when I potty trained Ethan too. So I started out putting him on the toilet every 15 minutes til he had to go. Once he went, I lengthened out the time to 20 min and so on. Sooner than I thought he got the hang of it. Hang in there.

  6. I am right there with you with Taft! He has done great for a few months and is now starting to have accidents! All I can say is hang in there! I learned with my first that this isn't usually something they master in a week. It can take months to get it down! We reward Taft at the end of the day if he goes the whole day without wetting or pooping his pants. It has been working! Hang in there... I remind myself that no child goes to kindergarden still in diapers; he will figure it out! Good luck!

  7. Hey Erin!! I sort of did what Chelsea did too. I just would put my girls on the toilet every 30 min. until I realized they were really able to tell me that they needing to go. I feel underpants at home are better then pull-ups, because I feel the the pull-ups feel too much like a diaper to them. When they pee or poop in their underpants they know (even though it is a pain to clean). I always only used pull-ups at bedtime or when we went somewhere. I usually did some reward system too, like they got a couple of m&m's or skittles. Poop always got a better reward like a dum dum lollipop, because for some reason both of my girls did not like going poop on the toilet (I hear thats common though). I hope something someone says works for you. Just keep at it even though it can be frustrating, he will get it.
