General Relief Society Broadcast

For those of you that attended or watched the General Relief Society Broadcast: What did you think? I felt like every speaker was talking directly to me! Dieter F. Uchtdorf was my absolute favorite! He said that so many times we undermine our abilities and focus on all of our imperfections.  He said that we all have the ability to create. It brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We are spirit daughters of the most creative being in the universe and we all have the ability to create. He said to create beauty everywhere around us whether we choose to plant a beautiful garden, write a kind letter to someone, or just to make someone smile. I do believe that to be true. We as women have the ability to beautify the world around us in any way possible. He said to create beauty around you so that the angels of heaven will want to dwell there. That really made me think. I want to create an environment around me where angels will want to be there with me at all times. The most important part of his talk was about helping and serving others around us. As we serve others, the more we rise higher than ourselves. "Those who bring sunshine to others, cannot keep it to themselves." Growing up, if I ever told my dad that I was feeling down or was having a bad day, he would always tell me to go and serve someone else. Although I would always get irritated by that predictable response, it was always what I needed to do. Elder Uchtdorf said that if you are ever feeling like you have it hard, look at someone who is worse off than you and you will always feel better about your situation. Isn't that the truth? One of the women that I visit teach always humbles me when we visit her. She is single and lives in a trailer and has many many health problems. Every time I leave her house, I feel humbled and grateful for my life.

I know that we have a living prophet today that is guided and lead by our Father in Heaven and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that I am a daughter of God and I know that our Savior lives and knows me personally. I am so grateful to be a part of the Relief Society Organization and that we have such a powerful connection with so many women around us. Our church is so perfectly organized and I am so grateful to be a part of it.

  10. I love the way you receive the spirit. You have a beautiful way of expressing yourself, it was nice to read your words and recap the broadcast. I loved the whole broadcast but really felt Pres. Uchtdorf's talk was for me personally. I guess he touched many people the same way he touched me.
