Baby #2 Came Early!

Yes, it's true-- our sweet baby arrived 12 days early. It was a relief (because my doctor was going to be out of town the week before my due date and I really wanted him there.) But it was also rough, because I had a cold for three weeks, got better for a week, and then it came back with a vengeance the day before I went into labor. I would not recommend being sick with a head cold when going through childbirth! It makes the whole experience twice as hard.
I was sick in bed the day before I went into labor. That night, as I laid in my bed, I thought I was having really bad body aches... then I realized they weren't body aches-- they were full on contractions! Duh! I woke up Steve and told him that I was contracting and he told me to start timing them. Sure enough, they were 4-6 minutes apart. Around 3 am, we both got up to take a shower, and got everything ready for the hospital. I then called my parents and then my sister-in-law, Lori, to come over and stay with Parker.
My sisters, Tara and Brianne came to say hello before the baby arrived. At that point, I had an epidural so life was much better for me.
I had to wear an oxygen mask to make sure the baby was getting enough oxygen because of my congestion.
My parents were both in the room with this delivery and it was so great to have them both there to welcome our new little baby boy into the world.

Welcome to the world Hudson Steele Larsen! His strong name suits him well.
He weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.

One of the best moments in life is to hold your newborn baby for the first time. I never thought I was a happy crier, but apparently I am. I cried when they handed Parker to me and I did the same with Hudson.
He has a button nose and dimples. Couldn't be any more perfect!
It was so fun to watch how giddy and excited Steve was the whole time. Even though we were both sick with colds, it was still such a fun experience to welcome our little Hudson into the world!

The miracle of life is truly magnificent. I thank God everyday that he blessed me with the the ability to be a mother. It feels so weird but great to say I have kids now! I couldn't feel any more complete.
We love you Hudson. Thanks for picking me to me your mommy. I promise I will love you and take care of you and give you all that I can to help you grow up into a strong man someday. But for now, stay a little baby and let me kiss you for as long as you can.

Next post: Pictures of everyone meeting our new little guy... :) He is already very, very loved! Did you expect any less??
